HOLD ME, BREAK ME
CLOSENESS IN DECAY
The Group of Works HOLD ME, BREAK ME was created in 2025 during a five-month artist residency in Chemnitz, European Capital of Culture. On two-part acrylic canvases, figures and fragments emerge from layers of oil paint, drawing, and overpainting. Bodies emerge and then recede again; heads remain open, while lines keep movement and traces of the painting process visible. Animals and familiar objects take on the roles of orientation and burden, while the human body appears vulnerable and unfinished. Painting thus becomes a field in which states are not fixed but are kept in motion.
